Harriet Thune, daughter of Alta and Jackson Helmick was buried in Graceland Cemetery as
was Alta's son Claus; Alta's obituary does not list cemetery. Alta's brother
William Vosburgh died in Valparaiso in 1947; no cemetery listed.

Succumbs At Home Of Daughter Here
Mrs. Alta Vosburgh Helmick, 89, died early today at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry
Thune, corner of Jefferson and Campbell streets, after an extended period of failing
health.
Widow of the late A. J. Helmick, the deceased was born in LaPorte county June 10, 1860 to
William and Sarah Vosburgh. She came to this city from Elkhart following the death of her
husband 59 years ago.
Survivors include the daughter, Mrs. Thune; a son, Claus Helmick, 605 Oak street and three
sisters: Mrs. Lovina Artman, Wichita, Kan., Mrs. Bertha Hosiner and Mrs. Alma Huntington,
Syracuse, NY. Three sons, seven brothers and two sisters preceded Mrs. Helmick in death.
Plans for memorial services will be announced Thursday.

MRS. HARRY THUNE
Mrs. Harry (Harriet) Thune, 76, 359 Jefferson street, died at 9 a.m. today at Porter
Memorial hospital after an extended illness.
A resident of Valparaiso most of her life, she was born on July 1, 1884, in Elkhart, to
Mr. and Mrs. Jackson Helmick. She was married 38 years ago in Valparaiso to Harry Thune,
who survives. She was a member of the First Methodist church.
Surviving in addition to her her husband is one son, Joe, and a brother, Claus Helmick, of
Valparaiso.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 P.m., at the Dykes Funeral home with the Rev.
William Hughes, First Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Graceland
cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday until time of services.

CLAUS HELMICK
Claus Helmick, 79, 304 Evans, retired Valparaiso painter and decorator, was dead on
arrival at 8:10 p.m. Thursday at Porter Memorial hospital.
Born in Elkhart Aug. 24, 1887. he was the son of Jackson and
Alia Helmick.
Helmick retired from his independent painting and decorating
business about 10 years ago. He was a member of Painters local 1174 and the Painting and
Decorating Conractors of America.
Surviving besides the widow, Josephine, are two daughters,
Mrs. Ora (Marion) Parker, Valparaiso, and Mrs. Gordon
Westergren, Waterville, 0.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister
Mrs. Harriet Thune.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Dykes Fun-
eral home with the Rev. John H. Cole, First Methodist church
officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Saturday.
Note: Josephine, wife of Claus, died in 1973, daughter of Francis and Dorothy Wiesemann
Brown; two daughters, Mrs. Marion Hammond, Hebron, and Mrs. Patricia Westergren,
Waterville, Ohio. Josephine, also, was buried at Graceland.
