Hi,
I have been searching this list's archives but have not found the answer to my
question. Maybe someone can provide me with one?
Where would I request Petition papers for an individual who reports "Pa" on the
1920 Census? I live in Cook County, IL so I know how to request these kinds of papers
here, but am unfamiliar on how to request them in IN. Does a library, historical society,
or a court archive have copies of these documents? Could someone please point me in the
direction I need to go?
The NARA only has an index for Petitions. I would like to see the entire paper. I am
searching for an ancestor's town in Poland and the date he came to the U.S.
I am researching Maksymilian/Maximilian/M.F. Mierzejewski who reports he arrived in the
U.S in ~1906. I can not find his ship manifest. What I do know is that he appears on
the 1920 Census (incorrectly transcribed as Martha Mierzeiewski) living on College Avenue
in Valparaiso. He was a student at Valpo Univ. He graduated in 1919 with a Civil
Engineering degree. On his school records he reported his home address as 2722 Deodar,
Indiana Harbor. This was the home of his brothers - Waclaw/Walter and Stanley
Mierzejewski.
On the 1920 Census he states "Pa", so I am wondering what office I could request
a copy of his papers from?
Thank you in advance for any help.
