In 1851, my 4th-great-grandparents Samuel Erickson and Anna Lisa Torstensdotter and their
children (including my 3rd-great-grandmother Johanna Carolina Samuelson) came to the
United States from Västra Harg, Östergötland. They spent a year in Chicago and then
settled in Porter County.
In 1857, my 3rd-great-grandfather John (Johannes) Borg settled in Porter County. He was
born in Östra Tollstad, Östergötland. His last residence in Sweden was Västra Harg,
Östergötland. He and Johanna married.
Västra Harg and Östra Tollstad are located in Mjölby. Västra Husby is located in
Söderköping. Here is a link to a map which shows these locations:

I don't know if there is any connection between your family and mine, but I thought it
was worth mentioning.

For those who are discovering their families origins in Sweden, Have you
determined where they were from in Sweden?
Do you have any family members who came from Vastra Husby, Ostergotland?
Carolina Nilsdotter came from Vastra Husby, Ostergotland to Porter County in
1872. Records in Sweden indicate she was very poor. So I am guessing she may
have had family or close friends already here, who helped her.
Is there any one else, whose family came from that vicinity?
