I have been looking for a John Porter Kimball, born Nov.18, 1832/1834 in Tenn. Birth of
parents and names are unknown. I believe he was possibly orphaned or ran away. He came to
Texas with 2 sons. He freighted for the forts in central and south Texas. On 4 Census
records different places for his birth are listed. I feel his mother's name was
Porter, because many times it was common to name the oldest son the mother's surname
for the middle name. I have no other clues. He married Delcina Elzira Davis in Bluffton,
Texas and had @ 9 more children. There is a George Kimbell that fought in the Alamo that
may have been a brother or relative, but cannot find a connection. I have been looking for
him for over 30 years. If you can give me any information on ANY Kimball's it would be
greatly appreciated.
Names of his children might give a clue:
Mary Virginia
Sam
John
Addie
Alice Lucille
Warren Alvis
Frank E.
Nellie
Gertrude
Nathaniel Byson
