W. F. LIDKE
CHESTERTON William F. Lidke, 76, 420 S. Calumet, died at 5:10 p.m. Thursday
in Porter Memorial hospital, Valparaiso, following a three-year illness.
He was a retired carpenter and farmer.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in St. Johns Lutheran church,
Chesterton with Dr. C. W. Bryant officiating. Burial will be in Furnessville
cemetery. Friends may call at the Flynn-Johnson funeral home Saturday afternoon
and evening and from 1 p.m. until the hour of service at the church.
Mr. Lidke was born July 31, 1874, the son of John and Augusta (Groehler)
Lidke. He had lived in this community all his life. On July 30, 1896, in
Furnessville, he married Henrietta Wiseman, who survives. The couple observed
their golden wedding anniversary four years ago.
Surviving are two daughters Mrs. Sylvia Smith and Mrs. Henrietta Kline,
and a son, John W., all of Chesterton; three brothers Ernest, Furnessville;
Otto, Michigan City; and Edward, Niles; a sister, Mrs. Henry Grieger, Furnessville;
eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. A daughter, Mrs. Elsie Rhode,
died four years ago, a sister, Mrs. Carl Gehweiler, last December, and
a brother, Albert, in February of this year.
The deceased was a member of St. Johns Lutheran church.
