Surname: Axe, Baum, Cornell
-------------------------
In the Marriage Records Vol 1 & 2, A-J, of Wayne Co., Oh. are recorded:
Cromwell Axe married Priscilla Lockhart March l5, 1835; David Axe married
Anne Fortney, February 12, l835; John Axe married Barbara A. Pentz, Sept.
5, l862; and Mary Anne Axe married David Merryman Sept. 2, l832. Also recorded
in Hugh Morgan Price's record Book, "Nov. 8, l859--This evening about dusk,
I solemnized the marriage of Mr. Nathaniel Axe and Miss Sophie While, both
of Porter Co., In.done while on a preaching tour of that county."
William Axe and Christine Kesecker were the parents of Cromwell, Elias,
George, Jacob, Samuel and Elizabeth. Wm Axe is listed in the l810 census
in Berkely Co. Va., also in 1820. He died sometime between 1820 and 1828
when his widow, Christina Kesecker moved with her family to Wayne Co. Ohio
where she died in March 1836. Jacob Axe, her son, married Agnes C. Cornell
here and they left in l836 along with Elias Axe and the William Dye family
for Porter Co. Indiana. I think that your MaryAnn may be part of this family.
I would be happy to hear of your connection to the Axe family. I have not
been doing research on my families for quite a few years. My husband is
doing his and came across your query. I do not have lots of information
about the Axe family, but do have a few photographs. My great-grandmother
was Miriam Axe Baum, daughter of Jacob Axe and Agnes C. Cornell. You may
contact me at my e-mail address.
