The following was posted today on Somebody's Links - am posting it here.
Maybe someone knows this family?
o I recently purchased a leather, zippered Bible about 5" x 7" at an
Antique Mall in Laporte Indiana. Inside the front cover is written
"Property of Ernest H. LUDWIG, R-2, Box 23, Knox, Ind." Below this in a
similar handwriting, but a little more shaky, is written "Anna L.
LUDWIG, 301-McClung Rd. Laporte, Ind. Oct- 1979." Inside are lots of
small papers including five clippings of Ernest LUDWIG'S obituary
mentioning the following surnames: POPEJOY, FORD, COOPER, PARKER,
WIGGINS, CARTER, KIZER, FRANKLIN. There are several photos of Ernest and
his wife, Anna (one of which is their 50th wedding anniversary, 23
October 1966). Also inside are several additional newspaper clippings
and some from what appear to be bulletins of the Seventh Day Adventist
Church showing a number of pastors (WHITE, KRALL, CAMERON, LONGFELLOW,
BASSETT, WILLIAMS, KURTZ, HOWARD, BROWN, WERNICK, MORGAN, SHELLY, and
LASTINE) (locations mentioned are Michigan City, Argos, Knox,
Indianapolis, Vincennes, and Laporte). There are an additional dozen
small items including a card with the alphabet and the Golden Rule in
Braille. Also with the Bible is a 3" x 5" Memo book, inside the cover of
which is written "Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth COOPER, Culver, Indiana." It
contains the genealogy of some ancestors and descendants of the COOPERS.
Mrs. COOPER was the daughter of the owners of the Bible, the LUDWIGs.
The first page reads: "Mary Magdeline LUDWIG was born in Marshall
County, Indiana on the county line owned by Mrs. ROMICK 6 1/2 miles
north of Richland Center Sept 5 1917, Baptized July 2 1933 Rev. FISHER,
Medaryville. Mary 18 yrs 2 mo. was united in marriage to Mr. Kenneth
COOPER Nov 5, 1935" and continues on page 2: "who was born in Corning,
Ark. on Black River near Twaits back out on May 4, 1912. He came to
Hanna, Indiana in 1933. Kenneth 23 yrs 7 mo 1 day was united in marriage
to Miss Mary LUDWIG Nov 5, 1935 Kenneth Victor COOPER." The next 14
pages contain the same amount or less information on the following
people: Sister, Viola May LUDWIG who married James Albert PARKER and was
the mother of Carol June PARKER and Linda Marie PARKER; Sister, Olive
Margrette LUDWIG who married Edward KIMMEY and was the mother of Bonnie
Ann KIMMEY; Sister, Clara Ellen LUDWIG who married Frank SERA; Sister,
Marjorie Lucille LUDWIG who married Lester DENNY; Mother, Anna Lola
FORD; Father, Ernest Henry LUDWIG; Father-in-law, Ed Delmer COOPER;
Mother-in- law, Mary _____ COOPER; Brother-in-law, Frank Virgil COOPER;
Brother-in-law, Cecil COOPER; Sister-in-law, Cora COOPER; Sister-in-law,
Ruby COOPER; Brother-in-law, Ernest COOPER; Brother-in-law, James Albert
PARKER; and Brother-in-law, Ernest WHITNEY.
Before I donate these documents to the Marshall County, Indiana
Genealogy Society, I'd like to find out if there are any family members
who would like to have these documents instead. Please put the word
"BIBLE" in the subject line of your message.
