Hello,
I am trying to track down Elizabeth Mitchel, who married Peter Lahue (Lehew)
on 10 Sep 1818 in Spencer County, Indiana. Elizabeth Lahue was present with
Joseph Brown and many of his family (not his wife, though!) in the 1850
census of Porter County, Indiana with her daughter, Minerva Lahue Branning
(or Branen), Janus Branning, and 3 children. Joseph Brown gave Elizabeth
Lahue 100 acres in his will (and did not mention Susannah at all - not sure
if they were divorced.)
Peter Lahue died in Spencer County, Indiana about 1837. Joseph Brown and
his wife, Susannah Carter Brown, and their family lived in Spencer County
for a short while, emigrating from Hardin/LaRue County Kentucky with the
Thomas Lincoln family and others. (Joseph was born same year as Abraham
Lincoln and about 1 mile away.) Joseph was in Porter County, Indiana in the
1840 and 1850 censuses. Joseph died in 1850 and is buried in Porter County,
Indiana. His wife, Susannah Carter Brown, is also buried in Porter County,
Indiana and she died in 1870.
At the time I originally did the Brown research, I did not know what
relationship Elizabeth Lahue had (still do not) and I do not know if she is
buried in Porter County, Indiana.
I will take any leads I can get.
Thanks,
Kathie
