Valpo Vidette - Mrs. Will Smith, of Chesterton was Friday in the city,
visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fox, and other relatives.

Frank Esping has moved from John Boney's house into the house belonging
to John Hillstrom, situated in the southwest part of town.

It is alleged that the Michigan Central railroad company will shortly
issue $6,000,000 in new bonds for the purpose of taking up its floating
debt.
Jno. Johnson, better known as Stable John, is suffering from a severe
attack of crysipelas in his right leg and is also suffering from lung
disease.
Miss Jessie Beck was 15 years old last Tuesday. She was surprised by
several of her schoolmates calling on her and leaving some beautiful
presents.
Michigan City Dispatch - Revs. Father Neusbaum, of Laporte, and Father
Kroll, of Chesterton, were the guests of Father Becks last Friday.
Don't forget that A. L. Harper is selling Stoves, Barb Wire, Pumps,
Sewing Machines, Cultivators, Mowers and Binders and in fact everything
in his lines very cheap.
Swanson & Son, the tailors, have a nice stock of clothing and Gent's
Furnishing Goods which they sell cheap. Should you want anything in

Deputy Sheriff Herrick was in town Tuesday. He came to suphaena
witnesses for the Lawson case which was set for trial for Wednesday.
Shedd makes a first class Deputy.
Wm. Way, of Furnessville, has bought the house and lot formerly
belonging to T. H. Ferrell, situated in the south part of town. Mr. W.
has made several improvements on the place.
Decoration day was appropriately observed in Chesterton, thanks to the
untiring energy displayed by the Grand Army Boys. They should be given
a vote of thanks, for their noble efforts.
Mr. George Brown has started excavating for his new house. The plans
are in the hands of a Chicago Architect. The design is handsome, and
the building, when completed will cost about $5,000.
The dance last Saturday night in Maroney's Hall, was well attended, and
a success in every way. The ball room was closed a few minutes after 12
o'clock. The next dance in this hall will be on July 4th.
Alex Holstrum, the night watchman at Hillstrom's Organ Factory was given
a little surprise party last Sunday, it being his 45th birthday. A
number of friends gathered at his house and spent a very pleasant
afternoon.
