Kurt. I read the other answers you received and think you should realize that you can not
put too much faith in what is written in the censuses. The enumerators wrote what they
were told and had no way of knowing if it was true. In the case of Catherine, 1880 was
the first time she indicated she was born in Canada, in both the 1860 and 1870 censuses
she indicated she was born in Indiana. Unfortunately, the first time she shows up in the
1860 census, she is working as a servant and is not with her family. In the same census,
John H is working as a farm laborer and is not with his family. I think (gut feeling)
that he was the son of David Skinner and Susannah Beck who marrried in Porter county on 7
Apr 1841. The family can be found in the 1850 census for Porter county headed by David,
29, a lumberman, born in NY, and included Susannah, 28, In, - Mary, 8, In, and John, 6,
