I have never found who Williams parents were. William was born in PA or N.J. (I have
found both listed) in 1808, Jacob was born in about 1799 or 1800. According to William
McAnderson his father was born in CT. and his mother was from Holland. I'm not sure
where rising sun Ohio is. I know of a Rising sun Indiana. Do you know when John or James
was born and where? The first thing I ever found that even looked like a William
McAnderson was in the 1830 census was a Wm. McAnders around Chillicothe Ohio. By 1840 he
is in Carroll Co. Indiana. 1850 he is in Tippecanoe Co. (in West Lafayette known than as
Chaucy village) and by 1860 he was back in Carroll Co. Indiana. He was married to a Mary
(last name unknown). She died May 22, 1855 and is buried at the Morris Xenia cemetry
which is a little N.W. of Rossville. There used to be a town called Prince William there
which is still the name of the road. He remarried in Dec. 1855 to a Sarah McClure (maiden
name). She had been!
married to a John MCCauley or McCully. William was a cooper by trade. He had 3 children
with Mary. Elizabeth I., Mary E., and David. In 1850 they also had two other young men
living with them, There was a Henry Harmon and a Jermiah Rider. I do not know if they
where related in any way. He had 2 children with Sarah. There was Minerva and John
William who was my great grandfather. I have more information going forward but have hit
a brick wall going back. There is one other McAnderson I have started to track down.
That is a Samuel McAnderson from around Emlenton PA. which the Mc was really a middle
name. I can't find it right now but do have it around. Samuel was a Minister that
started in PA. was in Wooster OH. area for a while, back to Indiana Co. PA and then
heading to Iowa and KS.
Let me know if any of this might tie together.
Thanks
Mike
