HUGH W. KAROW
Hugh W. Karow, 68, of 1111 E. 48th, Gary, formerly in the electrical business here with
the late Walter Wright, died Thursday night in Gary's Methodist hospital after a
lingering illness. He moved from here 29 years ago.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Berniece Harvey and Mrs.
Phyllis Voiles of Gary, and Mrs. Jeanette Dinger of Glen View, Ill, six grandchildren, and
a brother, Ernest Karow of Valparaiso. His wife, Emma, died in April, 1953.
Services will be held at 2:30 p. m., Monday in the 43rd Avenue Presbyterian church, Gary,
and burial will be in Graceland cemetery, Valparaiso. Friends may call at Geisen Funeral
home, Gary.

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Karow and their daughters Kathlyn and Mrs. Charles Murvihill of
Rolling Prairie, are driving to Oskosh, Wis., tomorrow morning where they will visit
relatives of both Mr. and Mrs. Karow for the coming week. They will be headquartered at
the home of one of Mrs. Karow's sisters, Mrs. George Rodhenbach.

Mrs. Ernest (Martha M.) Karow, 81 303 Fair Street, died Wednesday in Walters hospital,
Michigan City.
A long-time resident of Valparaiso, she was born Aug. 23, 1885 in Detroit. She was a
member of St. Paul's Catholic church.
Her husband, Ernst, preceded her in death in July of 1961. Surviving are two daughters,
Mrs. Haven (Lucille) Deck, Valparaiso, and Miss Kathlyn Karow, at home; six sister; one
brother; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Burial in St. Paul's
cemetery.

Ernst F. Karow, 72, died Saturday
evening at his home at 153
Napoleon after a lingering illness.
Born at Clintonville, Wis., Oct.
12, 1888, he was a resident of
Valparaiso for the past 41 years.
He was a former barber, a
member of St. Paul's Catholic
clmrch and the BPOE Lodge No.
500, where he served as exalted
ruler from 1929-1930. He also
served as secretary of the lodge
for a period of years.
On June 28, 1911, he was married
at Oshkosh to Martha Ruth.
The couple observed their golden
wedding anniversary last month.
He is survived by his widow;
two daughters, Miss Kathryn F.
Karow, and Mrs. Haven Deck;
and four grandchildren, all of
Valparaiso. His parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Louis Karow, and two brothers,
preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held
Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at the
Dykes Funeral home followed by
a requiem high mass at 9 a.m. in
St. Paul's church with Msgr. W.
E. Sweigart officiating. Burial
will be in St. Paul's cemetery.
Elks' services will be held at
7 p.m. Tuesday. The rosary will
be recited at 8 p.m. Friends may
call at the Dykes Funeral home
after 7 p.m. today until time of
services.
