--Died, near Boone Grove, Indiana, on Saturday, August 20th, 1887, Amy
Dye, widow of the late James Dye, aged 84 years, 10 months and 24 days.
Mrs. Dye was born in Fayette
County, PA., on the 27th of September, 1802. She moved with her folks to
Wayne County, Ohio in 1813 and there she was united in marriage to James
Dye on the 25th of
August, 1820. From thence she removed to Porter County, Indiana, with her
husband, in 1839, and settled where she died. Mrs. Dye was a faithful Christian,
an affectionate wife, a devoted mother and a good neighbor. She was the
mother of thirteen children, sixty-five grandchildren, and fifty-three
great grandchildren. She was a member of the Christian church for upwards
of fifty years. She lost her eyesight at the age of forty five and through
all the time of her blindness she always seemed to be contented with her
lot. The funeral services were conducted by Elder J.S. Buchanan, of the
Christian church, and were largely attended by her neighbors and friends.
