Messenger -- September 6, 1883
--Died, on the 1st of September, Mrs. Thankful (Wheeler) Crow at the family
home one mile north of Valparaiso, in the 66th of her age. The deceased
was born in Massachusetts
September 20th 1807. In 1825 she was married to Harry Crow in Lebenon,
NY. At the age of 15 she became a Christian and united with the Presbyterian
church. She was the
mother of 10 children, 6 of whom are still living, and with the husband,
father and many relatives, mourn their loss. Mrs. Crow was an affectionate
wife, a good mother and a kind
neighbor. She had lived on the place on which she died 38 years. Many of
these years were years of great suffering , but her life closed in peace.
She expressed full confidence
in Christ the Saviour of the world and through him looked for a home beyond
the tomb.
Her funeral services took place at the school-house at Cooks Corners on
Sabbath afternoon at 2 oclock, being conducted by Elder Riley of the Baptist
church.
