Surname: WEAVER, FOX
-------------------------
I received the following e-mail message from Lois Krone of Porter County
concerning the WEAVER-FOX families of north Porter County. I'm posting
it here for archival purposes and for others researching the WEAVER and
FOX surnames in Porter County, Indiana. I will do free lookups in the Chesterton
Newspapers index published by John Allred, which covers October 1882 to
December 1890 only.

"Steve,
Pat Kane and I have been searching our maternal grandfather's line and
ran across your reference to the Fox's at Cole's Corner and other Liberty
Township areas.
I have searched his name at Valparaiso Library and checked the Chesterton
Library Chesterton Tribune card files for his name, but did not find much
- 'tho' I may have missed some...
Our Great grandfather, Zenias (Zenas, Zenis) Beauchamp Weaver, married
Elizabeth Fox of Liberty Township and had one son, Charles, who was our
grandfather...We have all of those pertinent dates, but cannot find much
regarding Zenias, born Beauchamp, excepting that he was born in Canada
and was orphaned due to a Cree Indian raid, and was raised by his mother's
(maiden name unknown, married name Weaver) sister in Ohio...Zenas came
to Porter County at age 18 (found ref in Valparaiso paper) alone - and
was arrested for stealing and fined, etc. That is the earliest reference
to him that we can find..He married Elizabeth Fox at age 22 and became
a farmer and raised 4 girls and Charlie, our grandpa, who married Susan
Coslet. They had 10 children, including our mother, Sarah Belle Weaver,
who married Earl Johnson of Chesterton, who were our parents. Pat and I
had one brother, Donald, now deceased...
I guess you can only help us in our search, if you can find reference to
the names, Beauchamp, or Weaver...."
