Hello everyone,
While doing research in the Chesterton library I made some copies of
articles regarding my family from the Chesterton Tribune. On these pages
are articles about other residents of Chesterton. The following are some
of those articles. I am not related to or researching these names, with
the exception of Arndt and Greiger. Just typing them with the hope that
someone out there can use them.

Obituary of Raymond K. Booher
by Lillie Allen
Raymond K. Booher, the ninth child of a family fo twelve, was born on a
farm five miles southeast of Chesterton, Indiana, Nov. 20, 1878, and
passed from this life Wednesday, December 12, 1917, at the age of
thirty-nine years and twenty-two days. His boyhood days were spent on
the home farm and in the vicininty of his birth, coming to Blue Island
about sixteen years ago.
He was joined in wedlock to Elmina Jannette Carter, August 15, 1901,
coming immediately to Blue Island to begin their new life, and have
continuously made this place their home.
Left to mourn their loss is the widow, five brothers, one sister, with
many more distant relatives, and a host of friends wherever known.
(there was more to this obituary, but unfortunately it was cut off at
this point in the copying process). My apologies.
Mrs. Schuyler Kind gave a party on Monday afternoon in honor of her
daughter, Elsie's birthday.
Rev. Bescherer was called to Crocker last Sunday to baptize the infant
child of Mr. and Mrs. Arndt and to administer the Lord's Supper to Mrs.
Greiger, who is very low with pneumonia.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McManes entertained a number of relatives and friends
Saturday evening in honor of Mr. McMane's birthday. A dainty luncheon
was served, games, etc., enjoyed and all left telling their host and
hostess of their good time and wishing Mr. McManes many more joyful
birthdays.
G. Salamander, who lives opposite the race track west of here, received a
shock Tuesday morning which he will never forget. He had been in the
habit of awaiting the call from his mother to get up in the morning, but
this morning he awakened and thought it strange she did not call him as
usual. He arose and dressed and not finding her as usual went to her
room and found her cold in death. Mrs. Salamander was past eighty years
of age.
