25th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ingleson of Burdick were surprised last Sunday, June
12, when a large number of friends and relatives joined together and
surprised them on their twenty-fifth anniversary.
The couple was presented with many beautiful gifts in the line of silver.
Dinner was served in cafeteria style out on the lawn and an enjoyable
time was had by all.
Those attending this event were as follows: Mr. and Mrs. Gust Anderson
and daughter Linnea and friend Harold Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Nelson
and son Kurt, and Mr. and Mrs. Eskel Anderson, all of Chicago; Mr. and
Mrs. Gotfred Johnson, Miss Martha Ciganek, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rolfe,
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Coursell and children, Carma Jean and Cleetus, Seler
Taylor, August Weisemann, daughter Regina and son George, Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Ingleson and daughter Beverly Ann, all of Burdick, and the former's
sister, Ada Gemberling of Westville, Miss Ruth Ingleson and friend Kurt
Ulrich, Eugene Dickreiter, Paul Koerfing, Adolph Bottgen and Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Koefing; all of Chicago, and last but not least, the long
wedded parent's children, who reside at home with them, keeping them
young and happy, George and Olga.
Toward evening the friends and relatives departed and wished the couple
many more happy years of wedded life.
CELEBRATES HIS 94th BIRTHDAY
T. K. Whitlock, a resident of this part of the county for many years,
celebrated his ninety-fourth birthday anniversary last Sunday afternoon
at his home in Jackson township on state road 6. Mr. Whitlock is
interested in political and governmental affairs and is a frequent
contributor to the Chesterton Tribune. He has been engaged in farming in
Jackson township for over forty years.
A number of friends gathered at his home for the occasion and at 5:30
o'clock the guests were seated at tables on the lawn, where a bountiful
two-course luncheon was served by the young ladies in the group. An
abundance of roses and peonies growing in the flower gardens served as
the decorations.
Those present were: Mrs. E. A. Howell of New Carlisle, a 92 year old
sister of Mr. Whitlock, Mr. and Mrs. John E. Glynn and son John, and
daughter Maurine of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Martin of Indiana
Harbor; Mrs. Charlotte Castleman, Mrs. Clara Atchison, Attorney G. R.
Williams and daughter Marguerit. The Misses Etta and Tennia Osborne, and
Mr. and Mrs. Chester Jones of Chesterton, and Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Noble,
Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Nehring and daughter Mildred. Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe
Gaston and Miss Frances Pinders of this city.
CELEBRATE 78th BIRTHDAY
Gottlieb Grieger celebrated his seventy-eighth birthday anniversay on
Wednesday, June 8. Mr. Grieger is making his home with his daughter,
Mrs. Jerry Marquart, and family. In honor of the occasion Mr. and Mrs.
Albert Grieger and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Osborn of Whiting called on him to
help make the day a pleasant one.
LOCAL GIRL GRADUATES FROM NORTHWESTERN
Miss Mary Elizabeth Axe, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Ross H. Axe of
Chesterton, received her bachelor of arts degree Monday at the
seventy-fourth annual commencement of Northwestern university, held in
Patten gymnasium at Evanston, Ill.
Miss Elizabeth Simison, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Karl S. Simison of
Chesterton, was graduated from the nurses' training course at Wesley
Memorial Hospital, chicago, and received her diploma at the NOrthwestern
university commencement exercises.
