A Sudden Death
William Quinn Dies - Unexpectedly at His Home This Morning
William Quinn, one of Valparaiso's oldest and highly respected citizens, died suddenly
this morning at his home on South Lafayette street, where he had resided for 52 years.
Mr. Quinn had complained yesterday of not feeling well. Shortly after 8 o'clock this
morning he got up and dressed himself, and as he stepped from the bedroom into the sitting
room he was sticken with heart failure and before his wife, to whom he had called for
assistance, could reach his side, he fell over on the floor, dying almost instantly.
The deceased was a native of Pennsylvania, and would have been 86 years old tomorrow. He
came to this city from Ohio with his family in the year 1852. For over forty years he was
engaged in the cooperage business, but for the past six years had conducted a wood yard.
Besides a wife, he leaves four daughters, Mrs. Vira Baker, of Chicago; Mrs. Mary Morrison,
of Spava, Ill.; Mrs. Emma Reeves, of Texico, New Mexico, and Mrs. Alma Danforth, of this
city, and five sons, George, of Glenwood, Iowa; Lumon, of Owensburg, Ky.; Frank, William
and Schuyler, of South Omaha, Neb. In February last the deceased and his venerable wife
celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.
