John D. Collins, age 82 years, life-long resident of the Cook's Corners vicinity, died
Saturday evening at his home, located just west of the Cook's Corners school, north of

heart trouble.
The decedent was born on Dec 31, 1859, on the farm where he lived at the time of his
death. For many years he was identified with the republican party and served as precinct
committeeman in his precinct.
He was one of the oldest members of the First Baptist church of this city, joining the
church on March 10, 1879.
He contributed much to the musical life of the church, being a member of the choir for
many years. He was always active in community life at Cook's Corners, especially in
school affairs.
Surviving are the widow, Kittie E. Collins; two sons, Glenn W. Collins, of Valparaiso, and
Andrew A. Collins; of Cook's Corners; one daughter, Miss Annetta Collins, of
Woodstock, Ill., and one brother Samuel E. Collins, of Valparaiso. One daughter, Mary,
died several years ago.
Memorial services were held this afternoon at two o'clock at the First Baptist church,
Rev Harold E. Garner officiating. Burial was in Graceland cemetery.
