Annetta Collins
CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill, -- Annetta Collins, 99, of Crystal Lake, Ill., died Monday, Nov. 7,
1994, at Valley Hi Nursing Home in Hartland Township.
She was born Feb. 26, 1895 in Porter County, Ind. She attended Valparaiso University
before teaching in a one-room school. During the first World War she worked in
Washington, D.C., then in 1921 she took a teaching position at Todd School for Boys in
Woodstock, Ill.
She became the school's dietitian in 1938 and remained in that capacity until the
school closed in 1956. She then moved to Richmond, Ind., and was the dietitian at Earlham
College. Later she was hostess for the college president. She retired to Crystal Lake in
1966 to live with her adopted daughter, Diane Collins Treese and son-in-law Robert
Treese.
Survivors include a grandson, Robert Treese, Jr. and granddaughter, Susan Sisson, two
nieces, Betty Collins of Richmond, Ind. and Phyllis McNamara of Valparaiso; a nephew,
Duane Collins of Valparaiso. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Collins in
1973. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Crystal Lake and its
Dorcas Circle.
Grave side services 1 p.m. Thursday at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, memorial service 2
p.m. Sunday, Nov 20, at First United Methodist Church, Crystal Lake, Ill.; in lieu of
flowers, memorials to Hospice of N. E. Illinois or First United Methodist Church, Crystal
Lake; Flagg Funeral Home, Crystal Lake, handled arrangements.
