I've come across this too and it is confusing....
My grandmother is the daughter of Margaret Mason one of Silas Mason's children and my grandma says that her grandparents are Silas and Alice Mason. In fact my grandmother's middle name is Alice.
I am trying to trace the Mason family back to the American Revolution.
Not easy!

Silas may have been married to a woman named Olive rather than Alice. The 1870 Federal Census for Washington Township, Porter County, Indiana, enumerated July 21, includes the following individuals (this Silas was born in New York circa 1847):
House 41, Family 41
MASON, Silas B., age 23, male, white, work on farm, born in New York
MASON, Olive, age 18, female, white, keeps house, born in Indiana
MASON, Myron, age 1, male, white, at home, born in Indiana

Hi Wanda! I am still working on the tree. I have found out a lot since my original post, but there is some minor information I need - like Zeb's birth date - all I have is the year. Where in Indiana George was born. Lucille's marriage information. She married an Edward Jones, but I don't know where or when. If you have any of this or anything else you think I might not have, I would like to hear from you. Thanks
Jack
