Hi CB,
Thanks for all the useful info. I will definitely check it out. It does seem to be Bradner and not Bradure (got that from a few helpful posters who looked up his WWII registration card).
Regards,
Jerry

Hi Don,
Thank you very much. It looked like Bradure on the WWI draft registration card - I did not have access to the WWII card.
Thanks again,
Jerry

Both had obituaries posted in the Vidette Messenger, which is available at the Valparaiso Public Library.
Their website has an Obituary Request Form that you can fill out. Both obituaries should have Mary's maiden name. Print out the form and mail it in, the cost is only $1.00 per request.

The other responder provided Bliss's state of birth, apparently Ohio. There may be volunteers that would help with census information if you can provide more information, or you can check the 1930 census index that is on the Porter County website.

Jerry. Can't help with the wife's name, but when he registered for the draft in both WW1 and WW2 he indicated that he was born in Bradner, Ohio. Don

Hi,
Trying to find out where Bliss Straight (died November 19, 1986 in Portage, Porter County) was born - not sure if it would say on his obit or a death record.
Also trying to find out his wife's (Mary) maiden name. She passed away Oct. 25, 1982 in Portage.
Hoping someone also has been researching this family. Any help greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Jerry
