I've lived in the Indiana Dunes area most of my life and Cal City was the
original 'sin city' around here. But, Ed and William, we really didn't go
there...!! Lois

Oh, Ed, do you really think we would admit it to you if we did? :-)
I'm just joking with you, as I am much too young to have even been
around that long ago.
Good luck in your search,

Ron,
I looked through all the cemetery indices for Porter County and found
one Richard W. Jones listed in Merriman Cemetery, which is located in
Porter Township (247 West 475 South, just north of Boone Grove). Here's
the information listed in the index:
JONES, Richard W. husband of Anna d. 6-30-1873 73y, 1m, 6d (dates -
prev. rec. stone very hard to read)
Buried to one side of Richard are the following individuals:
JONES, Eliza A. mother wife of David d. 7-25-1901 73y, 8m, 24d
JONES, David d. 9-19-1895 74y, 6m, 24d
JONES, John F. son of David and Eliza A. d. 3-11-1873 22y, 3m, 15d
JONES, Anne M. daughter of David and Eliza A. d. 6-11-1858 1y, 6m, 2d
SHUMAKE, Martha A. (Jones) wife of Edwin W. d. 11-8-1869
Buried on the other side of Richard are the following individuals:
BISSELL, Orrin son of William & Mary d. 6-26-1865 6d
LEWIS, Mary Alice b. 11-2-1877 d. 10-14-1883
LEWIS, infant son b. 2-12-1883 d. 2-23-1883
LEWIS, Laura Maud b. 8-31-1879 d. 8-25-1881
Other surnames nearby include RITTER, PETERSON, BAKER, and KNIFEL
I don't know if this is your Richard W. Jones, but perhaps the other
information will provide some clues.

Seek burial information on a Richard W. Jones, born 1762 supposedly in
Maryland and died in Valparaiso in 1854.
Were any cemeteries in Valpo in operation at that time other than the
Old City Cemetery?
Thanks,
Ron
