I also have her death certificate.
James H. Reed's first wife was Mary Elizabeth Johnson b. Dec. 16, 1833,
New York and d. 1860, Jackson Twp., Porter County, IN. Family stories
say she died after contracting the measles. Mary Elizabeth Johnson
parents were John B. Johnson and Lucy Merwin.

Westville, La Porte County, IN
Donna
Saviah Peters Reed
At the age of sixteen united with the Baptist Church. No children were
born to the marriage of Saviah and James H. Reed. By a former marriage
Sophia had a son who was married and lived in Kansas.
Auntie Reed lived a respected and honorable life. Her habits were
frugal and industrious, and during the later years, when age and the
infirmities caused by services in the civil war unfitted Mr. Reed for
the activities of life, deceased cheerfully assumed a portion of his
burden by light occupation assisted in keeping the wolf from the door.
Of strong domestic tastes, she won the afflictions of three step
children, Milton, Alice and Lee and reared them to the estate of manhood
and womanhood. Besides the husband she leaves a son by an earlier
marriage to morn their loss.
Funeral was conducted by Elder C. Stewart who preached from the test,
John 11 35.
