md 1884 Goshen, Elkhart, Indiana (perhaps)
TO
George Washington PAYNE
b 4 May 1854 Indiana (family lived Goshen, Elkhart, Indiana)

They were parents of 3 children..
Nettie b 1885 Goshen, Elkhart, Indiana
Lester b 1888 fell into the fireplace and died of his burns @ 18m
Theresa b 10 Jan 1890 Pike county, Indiana [gr grandmother]
Rosa's death certificate says her father was James BURNETT and her mother
is "unknown". The informant was not a family member.. her daughter Theresa
had just moved to California a month before her mother passed away. Theresa
md George Fay HAYNES.
George's death certificate says his father was Solomon PAYNE born PA
and his mother was Mary "unknown" born PA. George died in the St Louis
City Hospital... George's body was un-claimed... the family didn't know what
happened to him...I later found out [1965] that George's body was taken to
the University School of Medicine and there used for study.
I don't know who other than George would give the information to the
hospital that is on his death certificate.. it says unknown where place of
residence is supposed to be listed..The letter I received from the Medical
School said that there was a penciled note on their record card which
indicates that he had been born in Indiana and that his father and mother
were from PA..and their names were Solomon and Mary.. Where the informant's
name is on the death certificate, it says "hospital records".. so I am
assuming [who else would it be] that George gave them the meager data that
we have of him.
I have filled out my own death certificate...I have it filed away with my
important papers, where my children or husband will know where it is. I know
my death certificate will have the correct data on it.. but then that
doesn't help us with these older death certificates does it...but those in
the future would be correct if everyone did this..
Thank all of your for you help
