Sue, I see two Robert Barrett's in the 1850 Pike County, IN census:
page 84
#21-21 Barrett, Catherine (Lee) laborer age 30 (widow of Spencer, m. 6 Sep 1839)
, Nancy age 10
, Embree age 9
, Thomas age 6
, Robert age 4 (all born IN)
, Elmer age 3
page 101
#143-143 Barrett, Richmond, miller age 32, b. NC
, Hannah age 31 b. NC
, Robert age 14 b. IN
, John age 9 b. IN
Both of these families were in Logan Twp. As Your Robert was also in Logan
Twp in 1870 one of these might be worth checking into. Also the father in
the second family was also a miller, though the other Robert was also a
miller when he grew up as noted on the 1870 census as both of these young
men were neighbors. Cousins mabe?? They were both married in March of 1870
according to the census and had children prior to this marriage.
Barrett's and Johnson's were early pioneer families in Logan Twp. (early
1800's). History of the Robert Cravens Johnson and Nancy Garwood family in
the book Pike County History and Families 1817-1987 lists a daughter Mary.
