I saw by your post that you are researching the surname of Davis in Pike Co.
Indiana . So am I . My great grandfather is John A. Davis born in Pike Co.
Indiana around 1839 . I have his death certificate and it gives his mother's
name as Elizabeth Boone born in Kentucky . However there is no name for his
father . I would like to know who his father was . I know that John A. Davis
was married to a Sarah Stacy or Sarah Hutchinson . I am not sure which one .
I have information for both of them being married to John A. Davis . Anyway
John and Sarah Davis had at least three sons that I know of . Richard Davis
, William Davis and Ira French Davis ( My grandfather ) . Ira was born in
Shawneetown , Illinois around 1873 . He may have had a half brother by the
name of George Davis who was living in Illinois in 1943 . My father was
born in Mena , Arkansas in 1924 and raised by a stepfather and never knew
Ira or anything about him . Ira was a lot older than my grandmother when
they got married in 1921 . Grandma was 19 and Ira was about 48 ! I had asked
grandma why she married someone so much older than her and she would not
tell me . I have found a lot of information since my father passed away in
1988 . My mother's maiden name is Boone and she had a 3rd great aunt also
named Elizabeth Boone born in Kentucky . So my parents may have been related
and never knew it . This what I am trying to sort out . I also know that
John A. Davis was in the civil war and that he died in Mena , Arkansas in
1924 the year my father was born . I also know that Ira spent the last 18
years of his life in the State Hospital in Little Rock , Arkansas . He died
in 1942 . I have his hospital records . Do you have any of these people in
your Davis line ? If so please write soon . I have been working on this for
a very long time now and Elizabeth Boone is as far back as I can get . Thank
you in advance for any help you can give . ----- Nancy ( Davis )
