Wanted to pass this information from Scott Meeker (80th IND WebMaster) on
to anyone interested in the 80th Ind Reg, especially those who had
ancestors serving with the regiment. Company H was almost entirely
comprised of Pike Co. men.
Well, it's almost here! The 2003 reunion is dedicated to the
brave 'Boys in Blue' of the 80th Indiana, especially the many men of
Company B who enlisted from the Loogootee area. Below is the final

In addition to these activities, Civil War reenactors will be doing
continuous living history displays of firearms, uniforms and equipment
similar to those the 80th used. We are blessed to have Ed Pierce, a
nationally recorded vocalist, singing original Civil War songs for us. Ray
Mulesky will be making oral and written presentations on the 80th's war
service. You will have the chance to learn about the military experiences
of your ancestors by watching demonstrations, by enlisting as they did, and
by receiving instruction in the basics of Civil War military drill like
they did. And the day will end with a memorial service for our ancestors.
The reunion will be held on the lawn of the City Hall, which it located in
Loogootee on Highway 231. I am assured by a local resident that you can't
miss it (Loogootee has a population of slightly less than 3,000 persons).
Loogootee is directly East of Vincennes. When you arrive, please check-in
first at the reunion registration table (and please feel free to volunteer
for a stint at the table).
Most importantly, please bring copies of any information, images, and
artifacts you may have about your 80th ancestor. We hope to discover many
new things about the 80th and its soldiers this way.
