Fowler Researchers:
The following information should be of interest to descendants of the
Madison Twp., Pike Co., IN Fowler families. It may also concern
those in Jefferson Twp., but that is unclear.
If you have not already done so, you should investigate Zachariah
Fowler in Nelson Co., KY.
Zachariah Fowler was in Nelson Co., KY as early as 1785 (yes, i know
it was Virginia then).
The 1810 Federal Census for Nelson Co., KY shows:

Zachariah Fowler gave consent for the marriage on 1 Feb 1817 in
Nelson Co., KY of Elizabeth Fowler to Richard Masters. The surety
for their marriage bond was Thomas Fowler. The witnesses were Thomas
Fowler and Joseph Fowler.
Thomas Fowler married Dorcinasna Masters in Washington County, KY on
28 Feb 1817.
Thomas Fowler and Richard Masters purchased from the United States
the SE quarter of Section 1 and the NE quarter of Section 11,
respectively, in Congressional Township 1 South in Range 9 West on 8
Oct 1818. These parcels are on opposite sides of the current Madison
Twp. - Logan Twp. boundary and are separated by one half mile.
On 17 Oct 1823 Letters of Administration were granted to Elizabeth
Masters and Thomas Fowler for the estate of Richard Mattingly.
Elijah Fowler married Elizabeth Beck on 17 Feb 1824 in Pike Co., IN.
James Fowler married Polly Brenton on 25 Sep 1824 in Pike Co., IN.
John Butler married Elizabeth Masters on 12 Dec 1826 in Pike Co., IN.
Edmond W. Fowler married Drusilla Selby on 1 Sep 1827 in Pike Co., IN.
On 27 Aug 1835, John Butler, Jr. wrote his will naming his wife
Elizabeth as Executor. Witnesses were Gabriel H. Masters. and James
Fowler.
Elijah, James, and Edmond W. fit as the three sons of Zachariah
Fowler who were under 10 in 1810. Thomas, Edmond W., and James
Fowler all purchased Federal land near each other between 1829 and
1836 in Madison Twp., Pike Co., IN.
These are not my lines. They are, however, ancestors of some of my
first (and more distant) cousins. I found the Kentucky marriages
while gathering information on my Quiggins, Mattingly, and Wimsatt
ancestors.
