I am looking for information on my great grandfather John A. Davis , he was born in 1839
in Pike Co. Indiana. On his death certificate it gives his mothers name as Elizabeth Boone
born in Kentucky. It has no name for his father. I have him married to Sarah Hutchinson
born in Ohio, when I do not know. I do not know if this was Sarah's first or second
marriage. I found a Sarah Hutchinson married to a James Davis in 1820 in Floyd Co.
Indiana. I wonder if this is a first husband maybe a brother of John ? I have a brith
certificate for my grandfather Ira French Davis born around 1871-1874 . The certificate
says 1872, but I have conflicting information on differant documents . On Ira's death
certificate it gives his father's first name as John, on all the documents I have
inculding hospital records it gives his mother's name as Sarah Hutchinson. I do not
know for sure who Ira's father is. I don't see how it could be John as he
wasn't born until 1839.Sarah married James in 1820 so !
he could be Ira's father .Please help I am so mixed up on this. I have been working on
this for about 10 years now and this is as far as I can get. I can find no record of an
Elizabeth Boone being married to a Davis. I did find a E.B. Boon and a John Davis in the
1840 Pike Co. Indiana census , but they were not married to each other. John was listed as
having a male child under the age of five, but no names were listed for the children. I
also wonder if this E.B. Boon is my mother's great, great, aunt. My mother's
maiden name is Boone and some of the family left the e off the name for some reason.
Mom's great, great, aunt is Elizabeth Betsy Boone she also was born in Kentucky. My
father was raised by a stepfather and never knew his real father ( Ira French Davis ) . He
never knew anything about his father's family at all. He didn't even know that his
great grandmother was a Boone. Both my parents are gone now, they may have been related a
never knew it. I sure want to know. I!
f anyone has any information, please e-mail me at earthworm(a)tiadon.com .
Thanks
