As I'm going through my gedcom and trying to enlarge it, I've been doing
some research. I've come upon a peculiar problem though. That of Virginia
Traylor, b. 1842 or 1843. She appears to be the daughter of Elias Dixon
Traylor and Elizabeth Grey. But, in tombstone transcriptions I have found
in a few different places that her tombstone reads her death date as 07 JUL
1864 (and states she is daughter of ED and wife of Wm. Thomas). I find her
alive and living with her children in 1880! She was married to William
Thomas, according to Pike County marriage records, on 18 FEB 1864, just a
few months before her "death". Now, she may have truly died and maybe
William remarried to another Virginia or "Winnie" - which may solve my
puzzle. I was wondering though, if anyone else had come across this problem
and maybe relooked at the gravestone to see if possibly the second to last
number in the year of her death date was just a bit worn, and was in fact
1884. Or, if she did die, maybe someone well versed in Thomas family
history may be able to tell me who had Williams' children (it appears
William died before 1880, as Winnie is shown as a widow). Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks to all of you for your time and consideration.
