Hi:
I have kept your e-mail. I thought it was interesting
as some of the Collins wagon left Pike Co in the late
1880's on a wagon train. They went on to Arkansas and
Texas. The family believe that Elijah Collins may
have died on the trail and is buried wherever he died.
Do you know anything else about the wagon train?

My grandparents, Noah Thompson Garland and Bell
McCormack Garland, started
out for Arkansas in the late 1800's; there already
were Garland kin there.
They went by connestoga wagon, or something similar.
My Uncle John Lafeyette
Garland walked in front, carrying a rifle. When
they got to the river, it was
too high to cross, so they came back to Pike and did
not try to go to Arkansas
again. In 1906 or so, they moved over to
Huntingburg.
