I am aware of this. I use it all the time. The new site is also open.

The new family search site is still in the development stage. The regular
one at
familysearch.org is still up. The only part reserved for members of
the LDS Church are for certain temple information. All else is available.
Under the search tab, the drop down will show search pilot. You will find
new information there being added all the time.
