Jane,
I suggest you contact the church directly and see what they can do to
help you. Here is the information:
St Michael Church
N 8th St AT Washington St
Cannelton, IN 47520
(812) 547-4388
I am sure they can tell you what records they have and give further
information on the plots and who the source was in giving the
information for the gravestones. That is probably where the mistakes
were from. The information is only as good as what the informant knows.
Good luck!

My g-grandparents, William and Anna (Minton) CARROLL are buried in
St.
Michael's Catholic Church Cemetery in Cannelton.
William's tombstone is inscribed with the dates 1843 - 1888. The death
date is definitely wrong and should be 1889 (per obituary &
Death Records, he
died Jan. 21, 1889). Birth date is anyone's guess: Per obituary, he was
born 1837 (age 52). Per Parish Death Ledger dated 1889, he was born 1842
(in Latin: Anno 47). Per two Perry Co. death records, he was born 1846 (age
43). Per tombstone, he was born 1843.
Family history holds that William was born in Co. Tipperary, Ireland and
that Anna (MINTON, Menten, Minto) was probably born in Hardin Co., KY.
I thought perhaps there might be Cemetery Records for St. Michael's
Catholic Church Cemetery maintained somewhere in Perry Co., and if so, where
would I find them? I'm not looking for tombstone transcriptions, but the
actual records of burial plots. What details might they contain?
Hoping for some details that would help pinpoint William's birthyear and
birthplace.
Thanks for any help.
Jane
