Hi,
My name is Heather Groves and I am researching my husband's family, many
members of which were from Perry County. Currently our research is
focusing on the families of FISHER, SCHWARTZ, ANGST, HANABUTH, GROVES,
WHELER and TATE.
My husband and I are trying to pinpoint where Mary Ann FISHER was born and
the names of her parents.
The census states that Mary Ann and her parents came from Switzerland, but
we cannot find any record for her in Switzerland and do not know her
parent's names. Census records for Perry Co. state that an "Elizabeth
FISHER" was living with Mary and Nicholas SCHWARTZ at one point. Although
the census lists her as a servant, we think that she is the mother of Mary Ann
but do not have confirmation on this.
We know that she was married to Nicholas SCHWARTZ (b. 1833, d. 1912). We
have a copy of Mary Ann and Nicholas's marriage certificate and were
surprised to find that she lists her name as "Anna Maria FISCHER" on the
certificate. We cannot find records on this name either.
Mary Ann and Nicholas Schwartz had 11 children. They were:
Nicholas (b. 1862)
Mary (b. 1864)
Grace (b. 1865)
Joseph George (b. 1866)
Albert (b. 1868)
Anna Catherine (b. 1870)
Francis (b. 1872)
Risina (b. 1876)
John Edward (b. 1877)
Katie (b. 1880)
Lizzie (b. 1882)
I know that Tell City was founded by the Swiss around 1856, a couple of
years before Mary Ann immigrated from Switzerland and wondered if perhaps
her people settled there. Does anyone have any information on Mary Ann
FISHER SCHWARTZ that they would be willing to share?
Thanks in advance,
Heather Groves
