Hi Deborah and other list members!
I would think the newspaper would print something as important as finding a
body on its shore. It may just depend on what kind of news day they had.
Since Tell City is a small community, I would think it was a big event.
Sorry, but I do not have access to their newspapers or I would offer to look.
Maybe some else on the list will offer?
As for the death certificate, you may get lucky and find she as a death
certificate in both States! It is possible!!! Have you tried to find her on
Kentucky's Death Certificate website index?
Since it was a death of unknown original, I would assume there was a coroner
involved to determine that she actually drowned. Did Tell City have a
coroner or was one called in from a nearby town?
The coroner's reports will list physcial appearances as well as other misc.
details. I had an ancestor that was hit by a train here in Evansville, IN
(45 minute drive to Tell City) in 1907. The coroner records gave his hair
and eyes colors and height and any possession they found on his body.
Evansville's coroner started in 1907; my ancestor was his 13th patient.
[Talk about unlucky!]
I hope this helps in some way.
Good Luck!
