I hope this may be of interest to you.
My G Grandfather Benjamin Coplin SCOTT married a Charity SNIDER (SNYDER), and lived in
Perry County, Indiana a number of years. .Charity E. Snyder was born Oct 7 1848 in
Cannelton, Perry Indiana , I believe her to be the youngest daughter of Robert M Snyder
and Sarah? Other children Are Emily J. bn 1835 KY, Thomas bn 1840 Ky, Margaret bn 1842
Indiana and Melissa bn 1845 Indiana.
I have reason to believe they may be of the same family that had many connections to the
DOWELL'S. Benjamins mother was Margaret A .DOWELL. I have her sworn testimony given
at a pension hearing, listing her children, date md. to John Scott, (Aug 4, 1836 in
Breckenridge Co.) and other particulars. She states they were married by B.
SNYDER(Snider?).
I believe he is Barksdale Snyder (no proof) and related to the DOWELLl (DOYLE) family
as there were a number of marriages with Snyders. I have not been able to make the exact
connection yet but I have other connections of SCOTT, DOYLE, DOWELL, SANDAGE (Sandridge),
TERRY,HILL (Hall) RICHARDS, BROWN, WINTER and GOBLE. This is all related to finding
Margrets family. Barksdale had a son named George Washington. Also a George Washington
Scott was in Perry Co. In desperation, I have often wondered if my Scotts were not
Schieders, or Gobles. Cannot find John Scotts fammily either..
Ben Scott's Obituary
November 22, 1900 -Death of B. C. Scott--The death of B.C. Scott occurred at his home
fourteen miles south of Rugby on Thursday last, after extended illness of several months
as a result of Bright's disease. Mr. Scott has been a resident of Pierce county for
seven years, and has been engaged during this time in the occupation of farming. Although
Mr. Scott has not passed the allotted time of three score years ,he was nearing the age of
58 years, three months and nineteen days of age at the time of his death.
Mr. Scott was a native of Kentucky, living there for a number of years and during that
time was united in marriage to Miss Chad. Snyder, and after a few years moved his family
to Cannelton, Indiana, where they resided for three years when the death of Mrs. Scott
occurred. Three children were born to this union, Mrs. Sevanah Doyle and Winfield Scott,
of Finley, Illinois, and J.E. Scott of Rugby.
Mr. Scott was again united in marriage to Miss Jane Wilgus of Cannelton, Indiana, and in
1896 they moved to LaMars, Missouri, where they resided until 1900, when the moved to
Pierce County and Mr. Scott filed on land where he lived at the time of his death. Nine
children were born to union all are living.
He was a good father and husband, a member of the Baptist church and a church worker. Mr.
Scott will be sadly missed by his family and legion of friends, and we extend our
heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved ones.
The funeral services were conducted at the home Friday afternoon Rev. Allen of this city
officiating.

Does anyone have a Snider family living in Perry County, Indiana. We think
our ancestor David Snider with a wife Barbara were living in Perry County
Indiana in the early 1840s. Think David died around 1843 or so and indications are
that he was buried in the Snyder cemetery. My husband would be descended
from their son George Washington Snider who died in Crawford County Indiana in
1844 shortly after the birth of my husbands great grandfather George Washington
Snider, jr. Shortly before his death George, Sr., and his wife Matilda sold
land to Barbara and a whole list of children were also listed as property
owners. George was probably about 24 at the time of his death. Would there have
been a possible obituary for David?
