hmmm -- the new digests certainly aren't working on my email system
like they used to -- they are sending individual html which are next
to impossible to read.
Anyway -- someone (can't tell who from this email thingy way it is
coming into me) sent about the James Wells Daniels -- can I ask -- is
this the same one who was in Wellsville, Columbiana Co, OH, wife Ida?
He was b Aug 1866 per census but same census shows him already 1 yr
older than wife and she was said to be born June 1866 -- hmmm... and
his father was Harrison William Daniels?
Since not Perry Co, IN line -- write me directly and let me know if
that is the one - write to jmurphy(a)erinet.com -- might be able to help
you a bit -- but unsure exactly what you needed -- you were vague here
and there are quite a few James W. Daniels from Ohio (same with
Harrison Daniels -- found 2 who were 10 on one census but in 2
localities (Indiana and Iowa) but apparently not same person since
both had different parents. Must have been a common name back then.
Wanted to mention that when Kirle (? if I have name right) mentioned
about his mystery -- at first I thought maybe it was the man in the
newspaper article I transcribed -- but looking I see that this was
another shocker and not his -- thought ya'll would enjoy it, though so
putting it here -- I have more on my website from 2 Perry Co
newspapers of old -- one article even told of a child from Mass who
was born with a BEARD. Loved those old stories -- so wonderful and
gossipy, these newspapers were...forget sometimes about my research
and get enthralled in the various stories instead....and off to never-
never-land for HOURS I become......
Anyway, here was story:
May 3, 1860 Pg 2:
Mr WARD, proprietor of bowling alley in this city -- a "well dressed
and rather handsome woman" arrived in town claiming to be his wife.
In her arms was a "snub-nosed certificate of marriage, about two years
of age, fair-haired, blue-eyed and very like its pa". Mr. WARD
acknowledged that he left his wife #1 in Ohio, later marrried his
current wife (now just over 17 yrs of age). Sheriff GODMAN wanted the
women to appear before a Grand Jury. When Mr. WARD heard of this
"he concluded that a change of climate would be beneficial to his
health, and took the first train out of town. His services are needed
in the construction of the new prison, and we presume he will be sent
for". (Article by Lafayette COUR) Lot #26 of CLIFF CEM was sold to
Mrs. Delilah LONG -- the infant child currently buried in this lot
will be removed to another grave after contact with child's parents.
My best,
