It looks that Martha's father died before 1848 and mother remarried, I
looked at the 1840 Census for Hancock, there is a Hankins Tindell with
children in the right age grouping and I couldn't find him in the 1850 Census
Hope this helps,
Happy Hunting

Hi Listers,
Glad to see Perry Co. active again! I'm looking for parentage or ANY
other information for my Ggrandfather Robert Wilkey/Whelchel. He married
Martha Ann Tindell in Perry County in 1858. I have a copy of the marriage
record but it gives no parents names, etc. He moved to Hancock Co. and
then Daviess Co., KY where most of his children were born. For some
reason (family mystery) he sometimes used the name Whelchel! He was
buried using that name at Bethlehem Cemetery in Hancock Co., KY. Most of
his children were married with that name and some later went back to
Wilkey in all it's variations - Wilke, Wilkie, etc. One of his daughters
married a Lostutter if that rings any bells.
