Hi-- I am researching for an elderly lady in Eville who is wanting to know something about
her father, Charles Henry Greiner-- b. Feb 12, 1882, married to Anna Zimmerman in Spencer
County. Checking the actual marriage records at Rockport, I found Charles Henry listed
his father as Charles Greiner and mother as Anna Foerster. Anna married George Spath in
Vanderburgh CO 1883 and she died 1886. George died 1888. The 1880 census give a
Charles Greiner, s/o Louis Greiner, in Tell City. This is the only Chas Greiner I
could find who could possibly be the father. When Charles Henry was born, Charles
was 18, Anna 22. The evidence I am getting is pointing to the fact that they were not
married. There is no marriage record of them in Spencer CO-- Anna F. lived in Huff
Twp, he would have had to have had parental permission. On her marriage record to
George, she is listed as Foerster. I am wondering if anyone has any info that the Tell
City Charles is indeed the father of Charles Henry, and if there was a marriage.
There are no records at Anna's church, St. John's, on a marriage or a birth of
Charles Henry in 1882.
I would also like to know where Charles H. was born. Thanks. Helen Zuber Keusch
