How does this sound? To raise money for cemetery restoration, we could
sell "used graves". Here is what I'm thinking:
All of our counties have various fairs and festivals. Locally, we have
a "Heritage days" celebration and also the "Forks of the Wabash Pioneer
Festival", both of which offer tables and booths. Now, if I were to
collect photos of the worst looking graves around the county, write the
name of the cemetery and the names from the gravestones on the back, and
then create a display panel(s) to hang them on. Above the display I
would put a sign that proclaims "FOR SALE: USED GRAVES", and under that
"Indiana Pioneer Cemeteries Restoration Project". We could "sell"
graves for 10, 15, 20 dollars. I would also offer memberships (price?)
and free flyers about the PCRP. Maybe I could work something out with
Tamara Anson-Cartwright to sell her books for a piece of the action. Of
course the initial overhead and the time to compile the photos is the
killer.
Anybody else have any ideas to improve this or better ideas? Please?
Anybody?
