Bill:
I take it you saw PapawB's message about getting Trustees and/or County
Commissioners to accept the transfer of cemetery tracts and thus being
perpetually responsible for their care. What are the odds that could happen
in Fountain County?

In my county we have transferred land to the township trustee about
ten
times
in the past five years. The current owner has been relieved to give up
the
responsibility of caring for and protecting it. It also reduces his
property
taxes a little bit as cemeteries are tax exempt in Indiana. Also by
law the
trustee is responsible for the abandoned cemetery. Also, it can be
transferred to the county commissioners and the trustee will still be
responsible for it.
