We don't have any "active" restoration projects going on in Clark County
this month; however, there are still a good deal of things going on here.
The County Prosecutor will be speaking at our July 3rd Clark County Cemetery
Preservation Committee on the subject of prosecuting violations of new
Public Law 100 (formerly HB 1522).
There is an excellent opportunity for restoring a large abandoned, neglected
and abused cemetery here that was horribly vandalized many years ago.
(Can't say more right now.)
Last month, we visited a cemetery in the northern end of the county that had
never been identified or indexed and we are hopeful that the Trustee or the
Clark County Courts Community Service Corps will assist in reclaiming this
site from the towering weeds and vegetation.
We haven't had much coverage from the local newspaper. Frankly, I was
shocked when they did not run the national AP story by Ted Anthony last
month. It seemed a "given" as the dateline on that story was right here in
Clark County. I really expected them to run it, especially after I talked
with the Editor and provided him with a copy of the picture of the Governor
signing HB 1522 into law.
