Members of the Jeffersonville Jaycees will be joining us on Saturday
morning, May 23, at McCLINTICK/SYLVESTER CEMETERY to continue the work begun
by Judge Steven Fleece's Clark County Courts' Community Service Corps. The
community service workers cut down several dozen trees a couple of weeks ago
and the Jaycees have agreed to come help us this weekend as the restoration
of this long-forgotten cemetery continues.
Anyone who'd like to help is invited to bring a rake and join us at the site
at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 23. The cemetery is located in the 3200
block of Coopers Lane, adjacent to the I-265 overpass.
The McClintick/Sylvester Cemetery website is at:

On a different note, the owner of the property surrounding DIETZ CEMETERY in
Monroe Township has asked the Clark County Cemetery Preservation Committee
for its assistance in repairing the many broken stones at that site.
We are still waiting for the property owner to build a road to permit us
access to the old FRANCIS WELLS FAMILY CEMETERY in Silver Creek Township.
Mr. Ballew has already agreed to let us clean up the old cemetery, where we
hope to find quite a few buried stones. At present, only a single stone
remains visible.
The next meeting of the CCCPC will be on Saturday, June 6, 1998 at 2:00 P.M.
at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 9199 Old State Road 3 in Otisco.
The focus will be Oregon Township Cemeteries and ongoing projects. After
the meeting, we will be visiting several Oregon Township pioneer cemeteries.
Thanks.
Lois
