The Clark County Cemetery Preservation Committee had a great meeting this
afternoon. The focus of the September meeting was UNION Township. Mr. Bill
Stewart, the Union Township Trustee, joined us for this meeting and even
accompanied us on our tour of cemeteries after the meeting.
Mr. Stewart was responsible for coordinating the 7-day efforts of a County
Corrections Department crew to clear, cut and clean Weir Cemetery. CCCPC
Union Twp. Captain Nancy Monroe hopes to line up an Eagle Scout to undertake
further restoration and clean-up efforts at Weir Cemetery. We are really
looking forward to working with Mr. Stewart on this project.
The photos I took this afternoon of Weir Cemetery, Bowery Cemetery and
Ebenezer Church Cemetery in Union Township are now on-line and accessible
from the "What's New" section of my Clark County Cemeteries website at:

The October CCCPC meeting will be at 2:00 P.M. on 10/3/98 at the United
Methodist Church on Mulberry Street in Utica. I will try to get permission
from ICI America to take a vanload of people into the Indiana Army
Ammunition Plant after that meeting to visit several Utica Twp. cemeteries
located inside the Plant (i.e., Koonz Cem., Lentz Heirs Cem., Barnett Cem.
and Union Cem.) [Six of the ten pioneer cemeteries inside the 8,000-acre
now-deactivated federal government military installation are in Charlestown
Twp.; these other 4 are in Utica Twp.]
