Pardon my French but this Editorial from Duke Realty is B.S.
If Duke wanted to be a good and caring corporate citizen they would have
never touched the cemetery period. Even though it had been neglected and
abandoned for several years did not give them the right to destroy it. If
they wanted to be good and caring they would have worked around it and
given that little extra good deed that each person should give at least
once in there life to make the world a better place and a little nicer
for the next person that comes along. Destroying original sacred and
hallowed ground and moving our ancestors to another piece of land is not
in keeping within the golden rule we all taught as children before money
became so important in our lives.
This cemetery was destroyed before the infamous clause B when it was the
duty of the trustee to locate and care for these cemeteries.
I do appreciate Mr. Hefner informing us about it happening many times a
year in this state. That is a nice way of Rationalizing!
Laws that allow this to happen MUST be changed. Write your Legislature,
Congressman, Senators, Ministers, anyone who will listen. Get the WORD
out.
A concerned and caring citizen
