Things are happening to some degree here in Clark County.
Work at McClintick/Sylvester Cemetery is moving along. (See
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/5881/mcclintickcem.html for photos
and details.) Spend the afternoon there Saturday and excavated two buried
stones. Still a lot of work to be done, although about two dozen trees were
cut down by the Clark County Courts' Community Service Corps over the
Mothers Day weekend. [Anybody need any firewood?]
I've got an Eagle Scout lined up to tackle the old Francis Wells Family
Cemetery in Silver Creek Township. He and I hope to get together in a
couple of weeks to start working on his plan.
There was a flurry of activity in Silver Creek Township last month when Dan
and Betty Johnson organized a community service day for students at the
local high school. They cleaned old stones in Sellersburg Cemetery. The
Silver Creek Township Trustee is going to clean the old Bottorff/Couch
Cemetery in Sellersburg.
The next meeting of the Clark County Cemetery Preservation Committee will be
on Saturday, June 6, 1998 at 2:00 P.M. at Emmanuel United Methodist Church,
9199 Old State Road 3 in Otisco. The focus of the meeting will be OREGON
TOWNSHIP. After the meeting, we will be visiting several Oregon Twp.
pioneer cemeteries.
Well, that's about all the news that's fit to print. Catch ya later.

Volunteers are still needed to help with Dietz, Francis Wells and
McClintick/Sylvester Cemeteries clean-up projects this summer.
