Hi all,
Well, as I've said before, my new job is demanding most of my time these
days and I haven't had much spare time to devote to either the
state-wide project or the ones I have started locally. It is my hope
that things will quiet down at work in a few weeks and I can start
attacking the mounting list of "things-to-do". Among things needing
done is updating the INPCRP Web pages, getting the LONG overdue
newsletter out, and giving some attention to the overall organization.
I still think it can work folks. It's going to take time and patience
though.
On the local scene, we are making progress at Pilcher's cemtery. The
second work day with the project volunteer group (Project Challenge)
will be Saturday morning. We are going to start reading and mapping the
cemtery. This group is young people so I will need to re-verify their
work but it is a major step in the right direction. Another positive
thing is the local press coverage we are getting because of the
involvement with school kids. Our local press is following both the
restoration process and the educational value of involving Project
Challenge. It is my hope that the diversity of coverage angles will
stir more interest, even if not direct interest in cemetery
preservation. If it meets the goals of the project, I would be happy to
offer a partnership with the shools. Maybe the kids can learn a few
things while the cemteries reap the benefits.
Thats all for now. I'll post an update after Saturday's events.
