We've added a couple of new members today. I don't usually post messages to
the group everytime we add someone new but both of these are unique. (BTW,
we presently have 128 members in the INPCRP.)
Jim Wilcox <jrlk(a)abcs.com>, who nominated an unnamed Parke Co. Cemetery that
he found while hunting (see the INPCRP Hall of Shame at the URL below). Is
anyone interested in getting a cleanup project started in Parke Co.? Jim
would like to help.
John Walters <cemetery_restoration(a)yahoo.com>, the Fayette Co., IN Cemetery
Supervisor and a partner in Tombstone Repair Specialists, the fellows who
volunteered their time and talents to help out at Founders Cemetery in
Wanamaker, IN last weekend after 98 stones were damaged in a drunken rampage
the previous weekend. John called me tonight and volunteered to become the
INPCRP Coordinator for Fayette County. John is an employee of the County
whose job is repair, restoration and maintenance of some 98 cemeteries in
Fayette Co. John doesn't have his own computer yet, but he hopes to have
one soon and then he'll get started putting together a website for Fayette
County cemeteries.
John reported that he and his partner, Jim Kalkhoff, heard about the
situation in Wanamaker and decided to go up there to help. 100 volunteers
turned out to help with the repairs and John and Jim offered the benefit of
their experience in giving advice on doing the repairs. I understand they
took care of a couple of the more complicated repairs themselves. John
expressed to me his pleasure in seeing the tremendous turnout of people who
wanted to help with these repairs. Isn't that terrific?!
Please welcome these new members to our group.
