Oh lord!
I've failed!
The county of Huntington used to have a county infirmary. The grounds
around this infirmary contained a cemetery. That is until earlier this
week, when the stones were bulldozed into a pile.
It was already too late when I realized this cemetery existed. My only
recourse seems to file suit against the County of Huntington (selling a
cemetery already in their possession to someone other that a cemetery
committee or organization for perpetual care of the graves), The
property owner, the contractor, the equipment operators (all for
destruction of a cemetery). This will not restore the cemetery, but If
I am successful, It will server notice to others that the destruction of
cemeteries will not be tolerated.
I will be spending much of my weekend preparing to file suit on Monday
morning. I may have the help of a sympathetic local attorney who may
even take the case pro-bono.
If anyone has any advise to offer or any resources that may help, let me
know. I feel sick to my stomach that I have allowed this to happen.
